Here are some drawings from a different sketch book. Everyday I sit in distraction free environment and draw one drawing per each minute for an hour. I just draw whatever pops into my head. Since many of these are drawn lightly they needed alot of photoshoping to be visible when scanned.
I have decided to put more content on this blog. Until now I have only been posting drawings that have had to be scanned or were digitally generated. I have entire sketchbooks full of drawings and it is about time I post some of them. To start with here are some sketches of Preston Blair's work from the ASIFA Animation Archive. If you want to learn to animate, and haven't done so yet, check out the $100,000 animation coarse. It may be the most valuable animation learning resource online. Also the Kool Aid man is in there. OH YEAH.
At long last I finished the Layout for Cereal Addicts Anonymous. The purpose of this is to see the key poses in framed with rough backgrounds. It is important to have a layout to make sure everything has continuity and none of the rules of filmmaking are broken. Also, it is key to communicating the story to the voice talent. This layout was made by scanning drawings into photoshop, then using Toonboom studio to arrange the drawings and draw the backgrounds. This will become the animatic once I have the voices recorded and the best takes selected. The great thing about Toonboom is that it has a timeline like non-linear editing programs (final cut, premeire) and an exposure sheet. So when I arrange and time the elements using the timeline to refine the timing, I will not have to go through and make an exposure sheet.
Yesterday was my third first Friday doing caricatures. I feel like I'm getting better and better at this. Each month I've made more than the last. This month I made over sixty dollars. If I could do that every night I could make a good living. Of coarse that would never actually work. The point is my act is getting more and more refined. I am turning out the drawings quicker, and they are better. I'm getting a feel for the character that I am playing when selling the act. People are giving me tips more often. I want to keep doing this and expand the act to other locations. Where else is there a lot of foot traffic of young artsy people? Where can I be loud and obnoxious without being removed. Until I find that place I'm waiting and drawing for next month.
